    What countries are the anglosphere?

    • The US still has very large Trump support and the rest of the republican party has drifted right after his time, and has a good chance of winning.
    • The UK is going back to Labour sure, but that's arguably because they've had their right-wing kneejerk reaction moment in Brexit and it's clearly not worked (not to mention Liz Truss' disastorous attempt to implement right wing tax policies)
    • Australian polls indicate the centre-right party is in resurgence
    • Canadian polls have a strong lead for their conservative party
    • Ireland just had local/eu elections where its centre-right coalition are broadly expected to grow slightly

So while it's only the US that's having a seriously strong far-right party there, in general the centre-right is growing in the english speaking world.

Note that even the older currently supported Ubuntu LTS (22.04) has a SQLite version that supports strict mode: https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/libsqlite3-0

But only trouble is that strict keyword was introduced in 2021

The timing here is wrong. Minecraft was already the all time best selling PC game, and the console and mobile ports were also established prior to Microsoft's purchase.

Minecraft was a very succesful but ultimately indie niche in 2014. the 2.5b aquisition is what turned it from successful to the most played game in the world.

It feels like they've latched onto the idea that conservative voters like the idea of national service and duty etc.

It may have been true 40 years ago when Yes Minister was lampooning the idea of reintroducing it. But this almost feels like the PM maybe marketing to an outdated stereotype of his voter base rather than the actual reality. Maybe he's relying on a "no such thing as bad publicity" idea. Or maybe the key demographic is the owners of the right wing newspapers who might actually be in the target demographic for this.

But the fact that even reform UK who is challenging them by being even more right wing are able to laugh this policy off suggests that there really isn't a sizable base of supporters.

There is Proton these days (most easily accessed through Steam, but you can run it outside), which is Wine + DXVK + Valve's custom config for games + a stable set of runtime libraries. Which means that for games, you can run pretty much everything except some games that use anti-cheat to specifically block Linux (mostly competitive multiplayer f2p games).

A common remark I find on HN are complaints about the author of some blog with a specific target audience, not explaining the things that that audience can be expected to know, because it means the HN audience need to build their own context. I think there's a real expectation by some users on HN that the articles are written for the HN audience, rather than being written by one person for that person's audience and then shared by (a potentially different) someone to HN later.

Tech companies exist to turn users into money by any means legally allowed. Call the companies out if they step over the "legally" line. Call the lawmakers out if the companies are just doing something you consider unethical.

I disagree with the implication that you shouldn't call companies out for legal but unethical behaviour though. Sure, also campaign to make it illegal, but legislation and especially enforcement moves a lot slower than bad PR, so I'm ok with some media/customer pressure being applied to change things.
