As a student studying to be a games developer this would be amazing, I wish I could say I could see this happening. Even where I live, the UK, for every potential unionised developer there will be 100 more that will work for £25k a year doing 60-80 hour weeks. Their best bet is somehow convincing the majority of senior developer in games studious to unionise, and I don't think even that's possible.

The UK has a concept of a 48 hour working limit, but it's pretty useless since your employment contract will stipulate that you waive the 48 hour limit. You can refuse of course but then you won't find work in the games industry. You could also retract the waiver but this takes 3 months (technically it can be as short as 1 week, but the length of notice required is written in to your waiver so of course they'll go for the longest option). Legally companies aren't allowed to fire you for withdrawing a waiver, but there will be "alternative" reasons eventually.

This doesn't surprise me, their terms were so vague as to become an issue for a lot more developers than just those they were targeting. I'm happy for the developers using Spatial OS but at the same time Improbable was definitely in the wrong and I think Unity is being quite lenient on them for what they did, though with how riled up the community got it's probably the best PR move.

I wonder what's happening with that $25 million unreal fund

I believe ask.help should be used for questions such as how to fix or resolve issues, such as cooking, car mechanics, programming, etc.

I loved it, it got me in to other animes that deal with skills/sports and becoming the best at them. It drags on a bit towards the end, but that may just be because I've rewatched it 3 or 4 times now.

I'm surprised so few indie games have been mentioned. I fully expect Binding of Isaac, Terraria, Gungeon, Risk of Rain, Factorio, Rim World, and Stardew Valley to be considered classics.

Is it not possible to use it while centralised? It would basically be conforming to a public API right?

  8. Belgium has regional elections on Sunday, voting machines use USB sticks and store votes on a Linux partition which users will be prompted to format when using Windows, deleting all the votes

@rubenvanassche: Belgium has it's regional elections this sunday, the voting machines are using USB sticks and store the votes on a separate Linux partition. But the stick should also be used on windows which wil ask the users to format it and so it will delete all the votes. 😮

50% of my library runs on linux, probably closer to 75% if you include wine. Not enough to make me switch, but definitely not as bad as 5%.

Note that they don't use the term VR to mean the use of VR headsets, just that this takes place online.

I don't mind the change personally, just find the difference between the boxes and the one vertical line kinda jarring.
