Not the literal history of "Anime" Animation, so much as the idea that a lot of pop anime that follows kids admitted to magical academies/testing super robots/fighting all the bads in the name of all that is good have a common theme of service to and motivation provided by the state, and that this mindset goes back to Imperialist Japan.

Not sure how great a take it is, considering they don't rope in how this expresses itself in Western Media and go out of their way to say "This happens in Anime, where it doesn't happen over here." Maybe a whole breakdown of the protector fantasy is beyond the scope of that particular video, but it seems like a missed opportunity.
