Yeah I have no excitement for this show at all. First issue for me is just new additions to old series that I love, let me down 90% of the time. It always feels like they are bringing back the old series because they can make money with it, not because they have new commentary to add to the world or a love for the universe.

Now this CGI animation doesn't look good to me at all. I was hoping for some Polygon Pictures style CGI, it has issues but I always feel it looks really good in modern day settings. And they are really good at making it feel like something that could only exist in CGI. Polygon Pictures has maybe my favorite CGI of any studio, maybe only a tiny bit behind the CGI in Land of the Lustrous.

This though, this looks kinda like a bad videogame, cause heck I've seen better visuals in videogames. Everything at the moment just looks flat, with no depth to it or texture. I may get used to it, but it would lose massive points from me for just looking like a generic Asain mmo or jrpg. If this is what they are going to give us, they would have been better off making it in Unreal or Cryengine or Unity and it would look better.

Yeah, GITS+SAC+2nd GIG are easily my favorite anime of all-time, so I am incredibly wary of this new series as well, especially because of how absolutely terrible Arise was... and this rather bland looking CGI is certainly not helping either. The only thing that gives me hope for 2045 is the fact that Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama are behind it, both of whom have serious pedigree.

Yeah, that's roughly my feelings on the matter as well. I can live with underwhelming CGI... It's the crappy, immature interpretation of the Major, and dumbed-down show stripped of all the deep, existential, philosophical aspects that I can't tolerate.

And while I don't have any posters/wall scrolls, Laughing Man has been my Steam profile picture for well over a decade. ;)

I've enjoyed some of the Ghost in the Shell stuff in the past. I think the live action version from a few years ago is a beautiful looking movie that doesn't quite hold up story-wise but I really enjoyed the 1995 movie (the music is amazing). I have the sequels on my shelf to watch but haven't gotten to them quite yet.

I'm not sure how I feel about the look of it. It's got weirdly photorealistic backgrounds and then anime style characters. It almost looks like they popped some anime characters into Fallout or Borderlands. It doesn't quite mesh for me.

The 3D looks nor the animation doesn't hype me. But at least it looks like classic Major.
