What's your favourite work by Noam Chomsky?

After a reread of The Responsibility of Intellectuals I've decided I don't feel nearly as sad as I want to; recommend something of his to (probably re)read!

I am not familiar with Chomsky, but after a quick Google search I think I may enjoy his writing. Any book you would recommend starting with? When you say you don't feel nearly as sad as I want to,...

When you say you don't feel nearly as sad as I want to, what do you mean exactly? Sad by current events?

Chomsky's brilliant at what he does; some might say too brilliant. (It's more or less a meme to be sad after reading Chomsky because of how bleak of a picture he paints.) I'd recommend...

I'd recommend Understanding Power as a fantastic introduction to him.

Do you have any recommendation for a linguistics oriented book? I'm not so interested in politics.

While Understanding Power isn't particularly political in the traditional sense, you might enjoy Syntactic Structures, one of his first major "breakthrough" works.
