These robots don't replace librarians or ease their job. They replace the lower level staff that do these jobs. Just as the chef at your favorite restaurant doesn't serve you your meal or clean your table, the librarians don't shelve books or check them out to you. That's the job of library staff, shelvers, and all the other clerical workers.
Librarians, at least in the US, go through a Master's degree program with specialization just like any other (tech, law, health, databases, etc) and typically their advanced education and skills are not wasted on such menial tasks.
