This is a neat way to go about recommending books for people to read, and I will probably be checking out at least a few of them that I haven't read yet... but I do find it a bit odd that they didn't mention the fact that many of those TV series are adaptations from novels/graphics novels, so people could always read the original source material too.

The Umbrella Academy, The Boys, The Undoing, Dash & Lily, Anne with an E, Lovecraft Country, Lucifer, Game of Thrones (obviously), and The Queen's Gambit are all adaptations.

I think it's just a different approach to recommend some lesser known books. The usual way is to recommend books that TV shows (or films) are based off of, but fans who watched the shows may have already read the books or vice versa. That's what I thought this list was about at first but it seems they purposely avoided that. Definitely some books/shows in the article that I want to check out now.

I've listened to a few audio books and have not gotten around to watching all of their respective TV shows but ones I see mentioned frequently are: Game of Thrones, Altered Carbon, The Expanse, The Witcher, various Sherlock Holmes adaptations (e.g. Sherlock and Elementary), The Magicians, The Handmaid’s Tale, Good Omens, and a slew of others that I'm forgetting (just to spite those fans in particular). Likewise, I'm sure someone else could easily make a list of movie/books.

Thinking about it some more, I agree though that, not a single mention at all near the top, bottom, or anywhere in between does it mention the source material whatsoever for the ones that have them. Maybe it didn't fit with the formatting since some of the shows are original material?

Adding to that, when books get adaptations made they tend to be on reservations at public libraries for months, so having other recommendations is very helpful in that regard.

This is a really interesting list! Like many others, I've barely read during this whole Pandemic, but I will say going through this list and adding books to my reading list has got me just a tiny bit excited about trying to read again, and that's something I haven't really felt this year. I'm pretty excited!
