In celebration of No Time To Die releasing next week, what are your favorite Bond books?

No Time To Die recently had it's world premiere. This concludes the Daniel Craig saga. I have liked the majority of these films. I have never read any of the Bond books, and I kind of want to read some of them. Which ones are your favorites?

I hate to bump an old thread, but when I initially saw this I figured nobody on Tildes had read any Bond books, myself included.

So when I watched No Time To Die this Saturday, I realized I actually would like to read them. I looked far and wide, but they seem to have sparse availability. Despite my reservations with Amazon, they, unlike the other book services I saw, had the full catalog. I have now started reading them with Kindle Unlimited.

They’re pretty small books, the estimate that Amazon gives is about 2 and 1/2 hours per. So, I’m going to try to read all of them before my trial ends. I started this morning and I’m now halfway through Casino Royale.

As implied, the entire catalog is included with Kindle unlimited in case it’s of interest to anyone.

Edit: I should elaborate what I mean by sparse availability, I checked mainly for eBooks on Google Play Books and Kobo, neither of which had official copies of the book for purchase (other than audiobooks on Google Play Books). I also checked Scribd, but it was not included there either.

the books are way better then the movies. do them in order, too. i just finished the series a month or so ago. i think it’ll become a regular re-read.

One thing I learned from reading Bond Books is that the british crown, and to some extent also the government, is a for profit enterprise. I think it was relayed in Diamonds Are Forever.

To everyone saying they haven't read the books, give them a go. They are incredibly short, most used book stores have a cheap little section (like 50 cents to 1 dollar), and they are a breeze to read.

This is off topic. Never read any James Bond. I'm a fan of classic 007 (Roger Moore is my favorite), but never watched the Daniel Craig era. Should I bother?

Most of the Caig ones are worthwhile, skip those with Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton unless you're a super hardcore Bond-fan.

I was put away by the comments that Craig was Spartan-Bond. Didn't seem like a good fit for the secret agent. Especially since I really love Roger Moore, the goofiest of them all.

The only Craig Bond film that I really hated and was a real bore was Spectre.

Casino Royale is great, it reinvigorated the franchise.

Quantum of Solace, while it didn't receive great reviews, is a lot of fun. It moves fast, with non-stop action, and it's the shortest Bond film ever (due to the movie being filmed during the Writer's strike).

Skyfall is considered by many to be the greatest Bond film of all time. It was also 10th in line to get a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars (and would have gotten a Best Picture nomination had the Academy not switched to a sliding scale). It's an incredibly beautiful looking film. With my personal favorite Bond song.

Spectre was considered a big disappointment. I really wanted to fall asleep at the cinema I was so bored. It also has one of the worst Bond songs.
