I suppose that makes sense to some extent. It's a desktop application so they aren't suffering from increased server load and users aren't using up more data every time they open it up. Isolating certain sets of features into their own little sandboxes, possibly with an orchestrator at the top level if necessary, is completely sensible.
Although, using web tech for desktop applications is, in my opinion, abhorrent. The whole JS-everywhere thing is painful to see.
