What conferences are on your wish list? (for team leads or wannabee managers)
Imagine that your boss told you that the company is happy to send you to one or two conferences next year, with the aim of helping you to improve your leadership skills.
In this context, "leadership" includes Culture; Coaching & Mentoring; Teamwork; Continuous Improvement; Collaboration; Agile; Culture Change.
You want to make a list of conferences worth considering in order to estimate the budget. What events would you put on your list?

Jeebus. I'm entering my second year as a manager, and pretty much everything that could go wrong in the first year, did. A major company reorganization. Supervising and having to fire the narcissistic sociopath who didn't get the manager spot. The right-hand team lead who received a job offer with salary about 30% higher than anything the company was prepared to match. The director I worked under quit; there's no director between me and the CIO, so I've got eight different directors fighting to take over the team... All this with no training whatsoever (managing technical projects is a very different proposition than managing people), and about 50% understaffing. I'm really failing at leading my team because of all the effort to "manage up".
Purely by accident, I wound up in a Scrum Master class a couple of weeks ago. I'm not in dev, but it had more good advice for dealing with rapid change than I've come across in the pile of HBR and "how to manage" books that have occupied my Kindle storage for the last 12 months.
