I'm sure they've been getting a ton of interest from investors after Microsoft acquired GitHub, and I certainly can't blame them for being tempted by a bunch of money when it's offered, but it's still disappointing. I wish tech companies were just willing to create businesses that were sustainable instead of always falling into this trap. Now they're going to be under pressure to raise GitLab's valuation to a similar level as GitHub was acquired for ($7.5B), and that's going to require prioritizing things other than just providing a functional, reliable code-hosting platform.

At least with GitLab we'll always have their self-hosted solution (and inevitable forks if the company goes South).

That's a huge amount of VC money for them to take on! It makes me wonder what their revenue's look like... Does anyone have any experience with their paid options? The only GL server I regularly...

Does anyone have any experience with their paid options? The only GL server I regularly use is self-hosted by the code-author and tends to more than sufficient for our needs (albeit, not anything remotely approaching an entreprise level)
