I skipped over this article originally since I don't write Rust, but I ended up taking a look at it over the weekend because I was curious about the high word count.
It's actually a great explanation of a lot of the difficult aspects of strings, character encodings, and more related topics. I enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend reading it if you're interested in those kind of internal details at all, and seeing some of the surprising issues that can come up in C code and how languages like Rust protect against it.
