The showcase will be next Monday, December 6th.
Next Steps
Finish up your project in the next two days. You have the rest of the week to prepare your showcase. This means you can edit, add polish, find hosting, etc. It's your time to get your project ready for however you're wishing to present it! And if you have to cram in a little creativity too, well, I won't say anything. :)

- Give your project a title, and use the
#markdown to make it stand out in the showcase thread! - Link to your project in whatever way works best for your project.
- Give a "creator statement" that contextualizes what your project is.

Do I have to share my whole project?
Nope! Only share what you're comfortable with! Snippets, excerpts, screenshots, or even just a summary from you are all fine. Tildes is a privacy-respecting site, and that extends to Timasomo! :)
What if I have more than one project to showcase?
Awesome! Make more than one entry in the showcase!
What if I didn't meet my goal?
It's up to you if you want to participate in the showcase. Even if you didn't meet your goal but still feel you want to share what you did accomplish, that's fine! If not, no worries!
What if I need hosting for files/images?
Please ask here! There are plenty of people here who can help with that.

What is Timasomo?
Timasomo is "Tildes' Make Something Month": a creative community challenge that takes place in the month of November. It was inspired by NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month. This is Timasomo’s third year running!

What are the rules?
Timasomo is self-driven and its goals are self-selected. On November 1st, participants will commit to a creative project (or projects) that they plan to complete within the month of November. There is no restriction on the methods/products of creativity: writing, painting, code, food, photos, crafts, songs -- if it's creative expression for you, it works for Timasomo!
Though most will be participating individually, collaborations are welcome too!
What is the schedule?
Timasomo begins November 1st and ends November 30th. All creative output towards your goal(s) should be confined to this time. This week prior to the start of November is for planning, and there will be a few days at the beginning of December given to "finishing touches" before we have our final thread, which will be a showcase of all the completed works. Can I participate?
Yes! Timasomo is open to anyone on Tildes! The greater Tildes community is also encouraged to participate in discussion threads even if you are not actively working towards a creative goal. This is meant to be an inclusive community event -- all are welcome! If you are interested in participating but do not have a Tildes login, please e-mail the invite request address here for an invite to the community.

Tildes is a privacy-respecting site, and you are not obligated to share your creation here if you do not want to. We'd still love to hear about it though, if you're willing to share process and details!
How do I enter?
Participants will formally announce their plans to enter into Timasomo on November 1st in the Roll Call thread posted in ~creative.
What if I have ideas for how to run the event?
Please share them here! I am facilitating the event, but I am completely open to feedback and suggestions to make this the best event possible. I want this to be Tildes' event, not kfwyre's!
I'm here to see what everyone else did. The long weekend was fruitless for me as it was cold and wet here, so nothing was done to the Tercel.
Only thing automotive/Tercel related was purchasing of various car parts that were on sale and a pleasant surprise on my doorstep on Friday. After spending most of the day out of the house, I arrived home to find this book sitting on my front porch. That book is known as a Toyota Factory Service/Repair Manual (FSM), it's the book given to dealers, and sold to independent mechanics through the dealer, so they know how to repair your car in the before times. It has literally everything you need to know to completely disassemble every single bolt, nut, plug, hose, and component in the entire car that can be taken apart without irreparably breaking it along with all the torque specs for putting it back together and a full wiring diagram. And in a beautiful display of a simpler time, almost all of the instructions for putting a part back into place consists of "Installation is the reverse of removal."
The note inside is from a man named Israel that was riding his motorcycle by on Friday, saw my Tercel out back, went home to get the repair manual, write the note, and pass it on to me. He had a very nice 1983 Tercel for a time before trading it to someone else for an equally nice 1968 Toyota Corona. We talked on the phone a bit on Saturday and texted more later. Loose plans to hang out once the Tercel is up and running have been made and he has an invitation to drop by if he sees me outside working on any of my cars. Nice guy.
So overall my Timasomo was a bust, but I look forward to it next year and seeing what everyone here has done!
I am, as expected, doing a massive dose of deadline writing trying to finish up the bulk of what I want to say tonight. I'm under no illusions that it'll be fully done, as I've got some serious revisions to tackle in editing in the days ahead, but I'll at least have most of what I need to say down on paper and the remaining days can be for mostly adding polish and nuance.
Also, I'll need the editing days simply because I need to zoom out a bit on my own writing and make sure what I'm saying is readable from other perspectives. Talking about grades is so embedded in my day-to-day that I need to make sure I'm saying what I want to for anyone reading this who isn't a teacher.
Well, not too much to report since I last posted, but I got to see my parents for the first time since June 2020 so I'm not miffed. Summary of the things I attempted:
Soap: 30% superfat batch continues to cure, should be ready to use in a couple of weeks. I still have more from a previous batch so I may not crack into this until after the new year depending on how long my other bars last. I meant to try out a Castile soap, but I realized I was low on lye, and the store that I got it from last time no longer carries it. So, instead of driving across town to get 2 pounds, I ordered 10 online for cheaper per pound price, but I have to wait for it.
T shirt design: All done, still haven't gotten around to ordering one. I may wait until after the holidays lest it arrive while I'm away.
Blog post: This is realistically not getting finished. I finished the reading, made some fixes to the site, and started an outline, but I haven't really started writing. Was it a smidge ambitious to read an 150 page report and write a blog post on top of my other goals in effectively 3 weeks? Absolutely, but I couldn't have learned that unless I tried so it's still a win. Hoping to get this out eventually, though travel and Advent of Code may slow or derail me.
Made good progress, but running behind the timeline I wanted. I got all the sanding done, and gave the main body of the pistol it's final primer+filler coat. I also purchased an airbrush, and did some learning/practice on some extra test prints I had lying around. I'll will probably fudge the deadline and do final painting tomorrow (Dec 1) (when I have some free time in the evening) and then assemble it all in time to do final pictures for the showcase.
I haven't been making updates, because I didn't know about these threads until recently, but I'm in the final stages of my project to create an optical illusion dice display.
The electronics and 3D printed parts are all figured out, so just a few more coats of paint and some wood glue before it's all ready for final assembly and testing.
God I hope it works.

HOLY SHIT IT WORKS. IT'S SO GOD DAMN COOL. I CAN'T WAIT TO SHOW Y'ALL
Even on the latest Canary and an unofficial alpha for Magisk, no results. Got some kernel panic logs, but they're sort of garbled. No real progress unfortunately.
Just finished and uploaded the game to itch io. Most work on the game was done over about 3 days, because I was busy/kept getting distracted by other stuff. I make low effort games in short time periods quite often though. But I have also recorded some stuff for the game during other days and most importantly I thought a lot about what the game will be during other days.
I'll wait for the showcase next week to show the game to you guys. It is a very minimalist game, if it can even be called a game. I even played around with a bit more stuff for the game but ended up cutting most of it, some of it didn't really fit because it was too intense, I guess I wanted to make the game as boring as possible.
Even though I didn't post about it in the previous threads my goal for this month was to learn and make a simple web application in Go.
The app downloads the close captions from a youtube video and summarizes them. Unfortunately it doesn't work with all the videos, the close captions URL can be found on the html code of the youtube video, my app uses that URL to download the subtitles, but sometimes the request returns an empty response. So until I find a solution the app will be a work in progress. Hopefully it'll work by the showcase.
But technically I achieved my goal, I learned how to make, compile, and deploy a Go web application.
