In 1978, to emulate the exuberant and stylistic luxury of the Lincoln Continental, Volvo launched its own facsimile of the traditional American land yacht, the 262C

First saw one of these in the early 90's and immediately loved it. I'd have to look up year by year changes to pin which year it was, but it was silver with the black vinyl roof, however it had the later year changes to single headlights instead of the dual headlights on each side. There are some cars on the various "ugliest cars ever" lists that I can see why they're on it, but I don't with the 262C. I don't find it all that oddly proportioned and think it is an attractive car with design of the era. Although, I will admit to having unique taste in cars to say the least.

What I find contradictory is the claims, here and elsewhere, that it was wrong for Volvo to make this/venture into luxury cars while in the same breath talking about how they sold double the number per year they were expecting and couldn't keep up with demand.

Also, for some reason the video creator used a picture of an inline 4 cylinder engine when talking about the V6 engine in the 262C. Not to disparage the guy for making it, but this entire video is a barely re-written reading of the Hemming's article on the 262C from a few years back with some googled images thrown in...
