      Nothing to do with gods or whatever. These are all entirely foreseeable ramifications (the climate stuff, anyways) of human hubris.

        The pandemic too was arguably foreseeable. Certainly for experts and those who cared to listen to them. Maybe not so much for the general public, as those experts never got the audience they deserved. TBF, climate change with its gloomy inevitability makes for a better story than a hypothetical planet-sterilizing pandemic.
