      This is almost certainly meant for internal matters in Russia. By limiting the options on the table, this shifts blame to The West predictably, while also giving whatever Russian grouping that's...

      This is almost certainly meant for internal matters in Russia.

      By limiting the options on the table, this shifts blame to The West predictably, while also giving whatever Russian grouping that's behind this a push in the direction they feel they need domestically.

      This is certainly not good news for anyone involved in any case, much like the "temporary" closures due to "maintenance" previously have also been a domestic-driven concern in the information war.

    The theories I've seen are that this sabotage action:

    1. will be used by Russia to invoke force majeure clauses in it's contracts to avoid liability for failures to meet stated deliveries; and
    2. acts as an implied threat to Norwegian undersea pipelines.
