If we agree that the current Administration is trying to bury//hinder access to the reports, then it stands to reason that NASA cannot host them without painting a target on their own back. Not hosting them is perhaps the lesser of two evils.
There's conflicting reporting[0], some sources say the White House put out a statement on July 3 that NASA would take over hosting, while other sources say NASA put out a statement on July 3. If it's the former, it seems the WH was going to saddle NASA with additional responsibility that it was never official given charge of//funded for (which eats into their current budget), and NASA is just saying no.

If the cost was going to be almost nothing, it underlines how little excuse there is to suppress it (not that I’m putting that on NASA - they didn’t create the environment where they need to hide behind excuses to avoid retribution).
