It blows my mind that the party representing most hunters wants to sell off public lands.
The party as a whole doesn't seem to do a good job of connecting externalities to negative impacts on their own lives. My impression at least is that their world view gives them the impression that things happening in the world that they maybe don't like won't ever effect them personally, so why should they care? (Rather than making the uncomfortable connection that those "bad" things happening to other people/groups/communities will have effects that absolutely can and will trickle down to them, but by then it's too late).
"Life is just generally getting worse and it's loosening morals that are to blame" I'm sure they'd say.
If the party can divert their attention with purity tests, scapegoats and slight of hand, you'd bet that they'll do it.
