    This part seems like a contradiction:

    In creating the energy policy, the EU attempted to address the climate impacts of wood-burning by setting standards, such as [...] the forest biomass is supposed to come from certified sustainable forests.

    Then:

    "There's no commitment those forests will regrow, no legal obligation to replant them, and it's nearly all being exported," he said. "We are the third world on this one."

    That's confusing. So are these forests sustainable or not? If new trees aren't being planted at a rate equal to or higher than the rate at which they're harvested, well that's a real problem. If they are though, this is a non-issue, and is only a matter of time scale.
