This sounds like the USDA is heading down the same road to a point where we now find the the FAA and consequently led to the Boeing 737 Max passenger jets nosediving into the ground. The FAA is currently incapable of directly regulating new airliners and rely on self regulation by the aviation industry companies. In fact, the acting director of the FAA told Congress it would take nearly $2 billion and 10,000 new employees for the agency to end its reliance on aircraft manufacturers to conduct their own certification tests.

Those two agencies are filled with the bulk of USDA researchers, who either study or fund research into food stamps, climate change, rural poverty and conservation farming.

Yeah, it is not like poverty, food stamps, and climate change are major issues that we need to consider the impacts of or prepare for.

You would think even Republicans would be outraged at the loss of study on conservation farming. Using our resources more efficiently and supporting rural communities seems like a no brainer, but I guess any science is bad science with our current administration.

I think that denial of climate change due to man made CO2 emission and all other similar science denial is just a red herring. It takes the focus off of the real effort which is to not get in the way of "economic development." But I think most of us know this just don't do anything about it because we're complacent and don't want to loose the comforts, and even complicit in some way. I should be honest, if it wasn't for the constant growth of residential building, my family would be far worse.
