I've lived in Florida for most of my life and I've been through everything from Andrew to Irma. The two big things for me are:

    1. Make sure you have some sort of battery bank that can charge your phones a few times over. I've been without power for two weeks without a storm. One of the first infrastructure things that gets rebuilt after a storm is cellular towers. So as long as you have power, at least you can get in touch with the outside world.

    2. Make sure you have a backup of all your important data in the cloud or off site. You can rebuild a house, but you can't retake those precious pictures of your child (unless you've got a time machine, in which case - why haven't you killed Hitler yet?!)
