Best wishes to everyone who is suffering from this right now. Forgive me if this is an inappropriate time to ask, but I'm curious if there are any places in the world that have simply been abandoned in the wake of disaster like this? Where the loss of life and cost of reconstruction is just too great for people to continue living there? Off the top of my head I'm not aware of places like this, though I've wondered about it after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico and Katrina devastated New Orleans. I'm happy to see those places rebound. But as our climate crisis worsens, will we hit a point where the most vulnerable places will need to be surrendered to nature?
