I'm no fan of Scott Morrison, but this article is a beat-up. The headline says "Prime Minister Denies Request for Emergency Aid" but it goes on to say "Making things worse, Holton said, was the fact that NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons appears unwilling to directly ask for assistance." If the RFS hasn't requested aid, how can the PM turn down that non-existent request?
Don't get me wrong: Mr Morrison is doing a great impression of the Emperor Nero fiddling while the country burns. (To take just one example: he's the first PM in half a century to go on holiday during a natural disaster.) But we should at least focus on the real things he's not doing, rather than the non-existent things he's not doing.
