As a somewhat Daneophilic Brit I'm happy about this - but isn't it funny that we use 'Viking' as a whimsical name these days for trans North Sea collaboration, when the Viking raids pretty much constitute genocide by modern standards. I wonder if Wehrmacht will be an amusing name for German-Polish collaboration in the year 3100?
Speaking of rape and pillage, I was watching an episode from the latest season of QI (S18 E05 – Rubbish) that sort of debunks this piece of history. It's obviously not an academic study on the topic, but it piqued my interest nonetheless...
