    Pratical Engineering is one of my favorite YouTube channels. Grady does a great job of breaking down even complex problems into easy to understand videos.

    His video about power grids in general and how they work is also extremely informative.

    This video packs the highest information density since the dawn of digital video.

    We were born into on-demand electricity. Most of us never took a really hard look at their electricity bill. We usually have very little incentive to try and understand whence electricity comes form, beyond that wall socket. One century of plug and play for the masses.

    Yet, as the global climate rapidly changes as a result of our usage of energy, it has become a civic duty to learn about those matters, and the grid is indeed one good starting point.

    Even if you

    − are not in Texas,

    − think that energy isn't something you should worry about,

    − are not inclined toward engineering,

    − whatever,
