They'll probably do that anyhow courtesy of the whole 'purge our ideological opponents and install cronies regardless of experience' part of P2025.

It's a 'now or later' problem, like a cavity that needs drilled out. We can suffer now to hopefully fix the problem or let all of our teeth rot away...both metaphorically and physically, given that RFK is gonna make medical care even worse.

I am aware, these are sobering unhappy thoughts. But if people don't suffer the consequences of their bad choices in immediate, real, and tangible ways, they will continue to behave as they are....

But if people don't suffer the consequences of their bad choices in immediate, real, and tangible ways, they will continue to behave as they are. They don't remember that things take time, especially big things like inflation being exacerbated by cheap debt...that's why mortgages are fucked while trying to do a 'soft landing.'
They'll continue to eat up the propaganda that Democrats ruin everything and Republicans clean up the mess. It lends legitimacy to every dirty tactic they pull in order to tip the scales.
Dropping gasoline to $0.50 a gallon would help people out tremendously. It would also completely undo all of the progress on emissions we have made.
The "majority" has spoken, they get their way. If the suffering gets bad enough....that's how you end up getting proper reforms in place. Maybe people will stop believing the lie that both sides are the same.
Trump only had a shot because he fucked things up so bad that his successor couldn't fix it in 2 years. Hopefully Biden's fixes fall apart in 1 so that there is a chance of recovering the House and Senate.

People already suffered due to their choices — in the first Trump administration — and yet he won again and with larger margins than the first time. Historically, when economic conditions deteriorate, people do not turn to "proper reforms". They turn to authoritarians and strongmen. Trump could crash the economy on day one and large swathes of the country would blame the Democrats. So what exactly is the point other than causing widespread suffering?

Good freaking luck.
It's too bad housing and mortgages are still broken

Comfortable people won't take the actions needed to enact change. They will remain apathetic till the SS comes knocking at their door.
