While I know people are slightly averse to politics outside of ~news I didn't really think this neatly fit that category. Mostly because the meat of the article is concerned with actual political theory, especially how an idea which has broad majority and bi-partisan support in polls apparently does not translate towards policy, AOC may be something of a populist for the Democrats, but it would be interesting to see if her presence suddenly forces a confrontation with this discrepancy.

Pretty sure it means calling around asking for donations, particularly from high profile, wealthy donors. I remember reading years ago that the average house representative spends a depressingly large portion of their time on that, since their term lengths mean they're basically always campaigning.

As long as the super rich and corporations are allowed to lobby and "donate" to politicians, we aren't going to see any change.
Possibly stupid question - what does "doesn't do call time" mean in this context?

Interesting, thank you.
There's a John Oliver video on it too.
Hell is going to be raised when AOC is old enough to make a presidential run.
Just wondering: how is Bernie Sanders stance on taxes like this? He seems fairly social-democratic.
A cursory search seems to indicate he is generally in favor, but not to same degree as Ocasio-Cortez.
Thank you!
I might miss things since I'm abroad (and a foreigner), but it seems he is overtaken on the left now by AOC.
I like Bernie, but he's really old at this point. Ocasio-Cortez is savvy, intelligent, and full of energy. It's really refreshing.
I hope she's able to hold on to said energy for a while. She's gonna need it.
She’s an advocate of shine theory so I think she’ll be fine. As she becomes more influential she tends to spread the notoriety around.
