It's pretty likely that even when next summer rolls around I'm still WFH, and I could probably save around 10k a year by moving further away, but moving a new location is a huge PITA, and 10k isn't enough money to be worth the hassle.

Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing the difference in monthly rent?

2800 to 1790. Not literally half but quite a decrease regardless!

It was close enough that I just made like 10 trips over a weekend and that was enough. I live pretty sparsely, all my furniture is IKEA so even with just a normal car. TV was the biggest PITA.

From the article: [...] Here is Zillow's report.

    From the article:

Online real estate company Zillow released new statistics shining a stark light on the issue this week. Their "2020 Urban-Suburban Market Report" reveals that inventory has risen a whopping 96% year-on-year, as empty homes in the city flood the market like nowhere else in America.

    [...]

It should be noted that San Francisco had an unusually low inventory relative to other large cities prior to the pandemic. Historically, the ratio of homes for sale relative to total housing has been a quarter of New York's.

    Here is Zillow's report.
