Don’t be like these people.
General rule in life is that what a partner/friend/ally is willing to do to others, they are willing to do to you.
Judge people you date by the behavior of their friends.
"Under the advice of an accountant" can mean all sorts of things. I'm not an accountant, and I wasn't signing anyone's tax returns, but I've had clients who were doing shady things. I told them that what they were doing was illegal, and if they were audited they'd be in deep shit, but admitted that the chances of it coming to light without an audit was minimal. They generally kept doing what they wanted, even after they were warned.
And then to write to an advice columnist with details? Not the brightest bulb.
Seriously, though, what can this guy do now that’s he’s dug in this deep? Can he lessen his criminal penalties by fessing up and facing it ASAP?
