The rats are huge, way bigger than most cats’ comfortable prey size, and there’s no short supply of small birds and mice for cats to hunt instead. Outdoor cats have, on the whole, caused far more problems than they’ve solved; devastating a huge number of ecosystems, because we’ve bred them to hunt constantly, even when they’re not hungry!
