TIL: Definitely going to order take-out through ChowNow when a restaurant has multiple options available.

    TIL:

If you order through ChowNow, which charges a flat fee of $149/month, there is no commission, so the restaurant holds on to more revenue.

Definitely going to order take-out through ChowNow when a restaurant has multiple options available.

Customers probably won’t care as long as it’s low friction, and businesses will love that it’s free.

I've always just called the restaurant? This has the added benefit that they know exactly what is available at that moment, and it doesn't involve any sort of data harvesting or annoying advertising.

You'd think, but there are companies (coughGrubhubcough) who publish fake phone numbers and websites so the delivery companies can still take away their portion of the transaction.

That works. I'm more so thinking from the perspective of someone capable of building such a service. People prefer to order from apps. Restaurants can take more orders more quickly when they don't...

That works. I'm more so thinking from the perspective of someone capable of building such a service. People prefer to order from apps. Restaurants can take more orders more quickly when they don't need to be on the phone. There has to be a scale at which taking-orders-as-a-service can work without a $3/order fee. The infrastructure requirements don't seem very big.

I don't trust free services. $150/mo is pocket change to a restaurant, and feels like a much more honest transaction than the nebulous "Here's something for FREE*"

And call when ChowNow isn't available?
