[LFG] Anyone wanna play a TTRPG?

My old TTRPG group hasn’t met in months now, and listening to actual play podcasts only scratches the itch.

Probably a long shot given the size of the site, but anyone interested in playing a TTRPG sometime soon?

I’m thinking something easy and low pressure, like Stewpot, or Fiasco or maybe a world builder like the Quiet Year/Microscope/Anomaly/The Ground Itself; I have the PDF for most of those.

But hey, if you have something you’ve been waiting forever to play: I’m here for it.

I have literally nothing to do tomorrow so drop a message if you’re interested! I’m in CST

Putting up a scheduler on the charmingly named Dudle (open-source clone of Doodle) to find a good time for everyone:

edit: I'm not 100% Dudle is handling time-zone differences... I put in the start times in as 9am-9pm CST, and you may have to translate to your native time-zone.

    Scheduler: https://dudle.inf.tu-dresden.de/ZMaYry2Hbg/
    Game choice: https://dudle.inf.tu-dresden.de/VlX6Y-dERw/

AFAI can tell, anyone should be able to add their own name / preferences, etc.

    cc: @tardigrade @qis @autumn @mrbig @muffin @thrabalen

We'll go with whatever time / game works for the most people :)

I'd be up to try it out. Throwing my name in there in case there's room. In CET so scheduling might be hard in my case, but if it is on a weekend I'm more flexible.

In any case, I have an 18 days deadline to finish the book that I'm writing. Until then I think it would be unwise to start anything (I mean I technically have the time, but this is more about anxiety, focus, and mental energy than anything...)

I'd be happy to participate after that.

Looking over Fiasco, specifically the description for "Main Street", I can't help but get Disorganized Crime vibes from it (1989, starring Corbin Bernsen, Fred Gwynne, and a few other great actors), and that's not a vibe I expected today. Actually, all four of those games linked look interesting. I've never heard of them before today, but you have some eclectic game tastes, my Tildemate. I'm kind of miffed at myself that this is the one Saturday I've got jammed solid.

I could do earlier in the day tomorrow here as well (but I'm not sure what time zones you and @muffin are in). Plus we might get some more takers in the next week :)

I've played Fiasco on roll20 and had a blast before. I'm open to joining a session for sure :)

English is not my first language, so you'd have to endure my thick accent. I write a lot of English, but I never have a chance to speak it. I believe my accent is not hard to understand, though.

I have some experience playing Mage and a few others, and also DMed Call of Cthulhu (adapted to the Storytelling system with the help of my more experienced friends).

I'm not a big fan of medieval fantasy unless there's an interesting spin to it.

I also avoid games that require deception between players (with the exception of characters played by the DM, of course).

It would have to be something super light, preferably with a focus on roleplay. I'm not great with rules and intricate/complex systems (my strong suit is roleplay), and don't have the time right now to study a new system in depth. So if you're comfortable with a player that relies a lot on the DM, than I'm game!

(sorry if my comment sounds like a demand list :P)

The games I prefer are very much focused on the story, and way less on rules, mechanics, etc. (except so far as having said rules makes for a more fun & interesting story). This is a big departure from your typical D&D style game so:

I'm not great with rules and intricate/complex systems (my strong suit is roleplay), and don't have the time right now to study a new system in depth.

really isn't an issue. For instance, the core rules for Fiasco fit in a 5 paragraph wiki entry. You don't even roll dice, except for the very beginning and the very end. It's fairly setting agnostic (check the giant list of playsets for examples).

If you would be open to having a complete beginner, I am interested! I’ve been wanting to play for ages, but I’ve never found the right group.

The ground itself is on my radar, do you still have room? I'd enjoy any of the games you mentioned.

If there was a one shot or two I'd be up for that but sadly couldn't join a campaign time wise. Also checking what that timezone actually is is such a mess with CDT and some places being the same...

Also checking what that timezone actually is is such a mess with CDT and some places being the same because of summer time but technically not cst.
