I generally don't subscribe to pre-release hype due to being burned so often when I do. I don't watch many trailers or previews. I don't follow upcoming games other than a general "some titles coming up I might be interested in". I don't preorder, and I very very rarely buy games on release (more of a "wait until it halves in price a few months later" type gamer)...
... generally. I'm so excited for this game it's not even funny. I'm a HUGE cyberpunk fan. Cyberpunk and hard scifi is generally all I read/watch/play in life. This is basically the game I've been waiting for my entire life.
If it sucks the collective anger of the internet will rival that of No Man's Sky. Everyone, literally everyone is anticipating it as the next big thing after Witcher 3. They've had FOUR government...

They've had FOUR government grants totaling millions of dollars from the government of Poland. Even the damn government will be angry at them if it sucks.
Well they are basically the biggest company in Poland. They contributed quite a lot to the country's name, without taking about how much they pay the country in taxes. Yes, it's one of those weird...

I've been hyped for this one for a VERY long time as the next game by CDPR after their extremely successful Witcher 3.
Rumour has it we're going to get something at E3, a rumour that has only been teased more by CDPR, so I thought the timing of this seems appropriate.
Im so hyped for this game, to the point I'm considering breaking my rule of never preordering. It just looks like a culmination of every thing I find awesome! I can't wait for more info about it :)

Hold fast. Just buy on release date. There's no reason to preorder digital titles. Preordering made sense when stores could only stock so many physical titles, but in the realm of digital it's...

Well, is not like the developer forced you to buy the PS4 today to be able to play their game when they didn't even announced anything at all for the past years.

What I strongly suggest is to NOT do exactly what the writer of the article is doing and project lots of expectations without even considering their feasibility.
Things like "mega city with neon and reflections everywhere and plenty of NPC all dressed in tons of different styles" and then mentioning a controller interface means that he's expecting to play it on a console.
CDPR is one of my favorite companies, they put time/effort into their games and it shows. Witcher 3 was one of my all time favorite games ever. I can't wait to see what this entails.

What I really want from this game is a city that is actually large and feels dense. I haven't seen that done in a third person action style game and if they manage to show the sense of scale that a cyberpunk city should have I would be sold. Witcher 3 was a large msp, true but there was a lot of open space as fantasy world maps tend to do. A full scale creation of something that feels like a living breathing city would be amazing.
It would be cool but hardware limitation could be a thing. Already for The Witcher 3 they had to tune the NPC density down for consoles and the PC had a slide to adjust it.

It better not suck :P

I find it very amusing that, in a way, a government is helping fund the development of what will be a major AAA title.

CD Project Red themselves said more than once that there is no need to preorder and instead wait for a demo or reviews to not comes out disappointed.

I totally get that, I am just saying that it would really suck.

Well then, bad news for ya, friend.
