Something random Tilderinos walking in from the front page might not be aware of is that this guy live streamed himself crying to his audience about how he cheated on his wife before abruptly ending the broadcast. I have absolutely no idea what possesses someone to take that personal issue and make it a part of their professional identity. People at the time wondered if it was some kind of publicity stunt.

With the added context that he was sexting a minor - maybe he’s just super emotionally unwell?

Nick Rekieta streamed himself apparently masturbating and getting high on (or just off) camera. When you stream everything it does seem like you become really comfortable with a lot of your life being on-camera or at least discussed on-camera. The whole world doesn't seem healthy to me.

I have only been vaguely following that situation though and hadn't heard of this dude.

    Update from this:

But after independently reviewing internal Twitch communications and interviewing a source with knowledge of the situation, Rolling Stone has learned that Beahm was kicked off the platform in 2020 for allegedly sexting a minor through a since-discontinued messaging feature called Whispers, even after learning she was underage

YouTube Suspends Monetization on Dr Disrespect's Channel 'Following Serious Allegations' (IGN)

YouTube has officially suspended monetization on the channel of Guy Beahm, the popular streamer known as Dr Disrespect, amid continuing reports surrounding his 2020 ban from Twitch and his alleged sexually explicit messages to a minor.

"We have suspended DrDisrespect’s channel from the YouTube Partner Program following serious allegations against the creator," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement to IGN. "This action means the channel is no longer able to monetize on YouTube."

YouTube added that it took the action on Beahm's channel "for violating our Creator Responsibility policy.” The policy, as the spokesperson notes, means that if a creator's off-platform behavior "harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we may take action to protect our community, including by suspending monetization." The creator is also unable to create new or alternate channels while their current channel is suspended from the YouTube Partner Program.

No longer alleged when he confirmed that’s what happened in his recent post. He said he is no longer the guy who made that mistake. Not sure what to make of this. Only time will tell.

He didn't exactly admit to sexting a minor, merely to having "conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate"... but yeah. Not a good look. No wonder he was perma-banned despite the multi-million dollar contract he had with them. :/

There is absolutely no way the word "minor" gets added in the first draft by mistake. Him trying to downplay this isn't a good look. I don't think any streaming platform should have him on payroll.

Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual. I went through a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with twitch and that case was resolved by a settlement. Let me be clear, it was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me.

The word "minor" appeared for me, 3 hours later.

TBH we simply don't know enough here to say one way or the other.

                Charitable interpretation:
                • He was talking with a fan
                • He found out later in the conversation that it was a minor, well after talking about stuff that wouldn't happen with a minor (e.g. meeting up, not being careful with language)
                • he cut off all contact
                • the fan reported it to twitch
                • Twitch took action
                • This action had damages and potential reputational hits. Disrespect lawyered up
                • Amazon did not like their odds (nor to lose a huge money maker) and settled with all parties
                Incharitable interpretation
                • He flirted with a fan
                • They were arranging to meet up
                • Twitch found out because they were looking at Whispers, in a way they should not have been able to (I don't know the exact TOS)
                • They found damning evidence and shut off the account
                • Disrespect had damages and potential reputation hit. So he lawyered up because he was in fact very careful with what was said (and aforementioned "peeking on whispers").
                • Amazon's TOS couldn't CYA (either because they promised privacy, or because certain employees read logs they were not allowed to read) and the lawyers realized this would be a long, ugly fight. One that doesn't have Amazon win either way, regardless of how guilty Dr. Disrespect was. Losing a big moneymaker, fighting in court for years, revealing privacy concerns, etc.
                • They all settle and never talk about this again.

Both are extreme but also very plausible. Amazon probably isn't ever acknoledging this again and Dr. Disrespect probably said as much as he's ever going to. Unless an employee can show proof (and likely lose their job/get sued to high hell) or the minor themself reveals it, I don't think we're going to get much more on the situation. Especially since it happened years ago.

Twitch found out because they were looking at Whispers, in a way they should not have been able to (I don't know the exact TOS)

It's not some special, end-to-end encrypted, totally private, chat system. Whispers are just the standard /w [username] command you can use to send other users a "private" (AKA not seen in public chat) message via the standard public chat window. So whispers are still just plaintext messages, and have always been visible to Twitch staff, AFAIK. As evidenced by the fact that you can report Whispers to Twitch when the message you've been sent violates Twitch policy... which I have done countless times over the years since they are often used by spammers.

And as for their TOS, it specifically mentions Whispers being included, and has this particularly relevant section on Youth Safety (which Dr D clearly violated):

                  https://safety.twitch.tv/s/article/Community-Guidelines?language=en_US

                  Youth Safety

Twitch prohibits any content or activity that endangers youth. This includes content that features or promotes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and the sexual exploitation, sexual misconduct or grooming of youth (which is defined by this policy as minors under 18). We report all illegal content or activity to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which works with global law enforcement agencies around the world, and the consequence for engaging in such activity or with such content is immediate and indefinite suspension.

For example, you may not show, promote, or engage in [content warning]:

                  • Content that constitutes or facilitates inappropriate interactions with youth, including grooming, purposefully exposing youth to sexually explicit language or sexual material, and engaging in sexual conversations in messages with youth

But seriously, with the image that Kick has, they might try to get him on board. Considering that they got other streamers that were perma-banned on Twitch and the other shady shit that they allow to be streamed, without any consequence on their part. Dr. Disrespect might go there just to stick it to the "haters" that criticize him for having conversations with a minor that strayed in inappropriate.

Further than that, he announced he was "fatigued" after seemingly receiving a text in the middle of a stream, there's a clip I'll edit in when I get back to a computer, but it seemed like he wanted to pre-empt this.

Also he made a Tweet this morning where he literally admitted to inappropriately talking to a minor knowingly.

As I mentioned on Bluesky, I really hate that I am now aware of this human existing. And that he filmed minors in a bathroom or something too? Why.

Let's not add false information and random rumors here. The allegation against him (which he has basically admitted to at this point) is that he was inappropriately messaging a minor via Twitch's whisper message system. As far as I'm aware, there have been no accusations of filming minors inappropriately.

If this isn't his only time filming in the bathroom, then allegedly one of the individuals was a teenager at the urinal. It was definitely a crime in California (filming in the bathroom itself) and he was banned from twitch and booted from E3

        https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/07/01/dr-disrespect-explains-bathroom-incident-on-behalf-of-his-brand

So it was singular "minor", allegedly but the inappropriateness was filming there at all.

I tried searching to see if you were spreading hearsay but the current news event has swamped any search results that aren't specific enough to get the E3 incident. I've seen cases where rumors spread and get exaggerated so I wanted to keep the story straight - seems like it was unnecessary this time.
