The Remedy Connected Universe that ties Alan Wake 2 and Control is "just getting started" with no endgame in sight, says Sam Lake

I just hope they don't overdo it as it's very easy to get lost in the sauce and lose the main things that made these two games so good.
I trust Remedy to be reasonable about it, but it's not impossible for them to go the Marvel and/or Sony route and just connect stuff together for the sake of connecting them together.
I was mostly over it during Alan Wake 2. The meta/universe level in your face "easter eggs" add little to the overall experience. They were more of a distraction than additional value during the main campaign.
Mind you, this is a really small nitpick in the game that was probably my favorite from last year. It's not like it was an unconquerable obstacle but in a pretty focused and linear story otherwise, I didn't like that aspect.
During Control though, I found that all the references were cool. Maybe it was executed better there or maybe I wasn't at the time had enough of shared universes, I don't know.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to their next game.
Agreed, Remedy is basically the only game company left for me that has never missed (I'm the weird person who really liked Quantum Break). I love everything they are doing. I thought Alan Wake 2 was the perfect amount of linking to Control but I do worry they could wonder too far or tire people out.
My real hope is that this leads to a whole new game that also has AWEs and the FBC. In theory, the potential for this is endless and they just need to execute.
Remedy already got me to do something I never thought they would do when they got me to buy a game from the Epic game store.
