Looks like it'll be time for another playthrough soon (after I finish my second playthrough of 2077 now that it has also had its "final patch"). Did 120+ hour playthrough as Karlach the first go and loved every minute of it. Will find a couple of mods to fix some UI annoyances if they weren't already addressed, but otherwise play it as-is.

I played about 13 hours and then work got too busy and I've totally lost momentum. On paper, I should absolutely love this game, but I was not as absorbed as I thought I'd be. In particular, I found the combat really underwhelming after having played DOS1 and DOS2. Having just one proper action seems pretty lame. Do you have any advice for having more fun with it? Should I just play it on Story mode or whatever it was called? Or is there a playstyle that's more fun than the Fighter I'm currently playing?

Fighter is one of those classes that starts out really basic. As you get to level 4 or so you get extra actions, and you'll get an action surge, and add a feat that lets you do interesting things with a weapon class, and suddenly fighters are fun. But the early game absolutely is "Let's trade hits." But it'll get more fun soon.

Fighters specifically get extra attacks or features to affect how those attacks effect the enemy. You can get potions or spells to increase your actions.

You also get gear that has more interesting effects as you get stronger. Act 1 gear is pretty straightforward but 2 and 3 can get you some neat stuff.

Of the classes, fighters are some of the less complex (and by extension, less versatile) but they still get more interesting as you go.

That's funny because I actually just created a Durge Bard with no awareness of the meme. Wasn't even trying to be funny, it's just my interest in a Durge run happened to coincide with an interest in playing as a bard. But I quickly realized how hilarious it is to be committing evil acts with a violin. I need to find cowboy hat so I can complete my "Evil Charlie Daniels" look.

I like good Durge bard. People look at you like JESUS CHRIST, and you're like, I just want to save some kittens! With song!

My only playthrough was a good ending durge as a sorcerer. I think having a high charisma character act as a face really improved the playthrough, because I think that's what the party generally lacks. Plus duplicating Haste with sorcery points on Laz and Karlach turned them into absolute monsters. :D

Awesome. I've been excited about that, since most of the people I know played on Windows instead of PS5.

Players on PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 will now all be able to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer, with full cross-platform progression and cross-play.

Mac and Windows at least always “had” cross play…but Mac updates were always a few versions behind Windows, so they couldn’t actually play together. Was very annoying.
