    Interesting ones for me:

    • On Tuesday at 12:16 pm, there will be a mellow-off speedrun called "Mines vs. Crafts Room Race" for Stardew Valley.
    • Besides the usual Mario and Zelda speedruns, they'll also be doing "Silly Runs" on Thursday that include What the Golf?, Drywall Eating Simulator, and American Idol. Maybe not new, but new for me.
    • Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is on Thursday. Inspired by the theatrical run?

There's also a Humble Bundle to match. Unfortunately, it features no less than 2 coupons in the lower tier, so it's a no from me.

The current run (happening now) is so cool: a sightreading co-op kaizo Super Mario World race.

I’ve seen plenty of kaizo runs which are always impressive, but this is the first time I’ve seen a co-op one. The fact that they have to figure things out on the fly together is wild.

EDIT: It’s now over. It was SO good! Brilliant level design and brilliant gameplay. I’ll link the VOD once it’s up. Definitely a must watch IMO.

The Don't Stop, Girlypop! run (YouTube link) was an amazing fever dream. Makes me wish I were any good at movement shooters.

Humble Bundle has a GDQ bundle right now. I grabbed it, but I already had Solar Ash and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. If anyone wants one of these, shoot me a PM and I'll send you the key.

This is somewhat off topic, mainly related because there’s usually a pattern of “I wish GDQ was more casual -> what about the ESA?” that happens whenever GDQ is on. I was chatting with someone more familiar the speedrunning scene and apparently last year the ESA had some serious sexual assault allegations and accusations and the subsequent poor handling of those have led to them being mostly blacklisted by European speedrunners.

So, uh, yeah I guess there’s always RPG limitbreak.

I believe (but can't find confirmation) that they ended up making some positive changes after everything blew up (they paused their regular events for a bit when all of the info came out). Unfortunately, a lot of great people were pushed out or stepped away in response, and it showed in their most recent event. It didn't really have any of the unique feel/flavor which is what I loved about ESA.

      In unfortunately similar news:

For anyone (like me) who was wondering where Mr. Game and Shout was at this GDQ event, it turns out he was fired for harassment:

MrGameAndShout has lost his job and can no longer volunteer at GDQ.

"Effectively immediately, Shout is no longer GDQ staff and is permanently banned from volunteering at GDQ, due to violating GDQ's harassment policy," reads a message posted last month in the GDQ staff Discord by GDQ director of technology Jason “Wyrm” Deng, which Aftermath has viewed. "I'm sure many of you have questions. What we are able to share is that this report was filed directly with management, and management made the decision that the incident violated the harassment policy. I apologize for how this decision may affect staff and the community. However I need to emphasize we won't be commenting and that there should not be a thread to speculate/comment on this decision beyond what I've shared here."
