I'll definitely give it a chance, but it honestly looks pointlessly complex to me. Playing 3 boards simultaneously just because Dota map has 3 lanes? Yikes. I'm also nervous about the business...

I'm also nervous about the business model. It's not just $20, I believe they're also trading individual cards thru Steam market. They're sellable between players, and if the CSGO skin market is any indication, many will be silly high prices.

As an active Dota player and someone that used to play a lot of hearthstone I definetly am, I think people were turned off by it because it looked like just an attempt at making a card game because it's popular but it was the creator of magic itself that proposed the game to valve couple of years back so that makes me more optimistic it's not just a cash grab. We'll have to see, but I can't wait to play another TCG with my mates.

I don't preorder anything, but I love CCGs and hope that Valve can do a good job of creating one that isn't as heavy on the F2P mechanics as most of the current ones are. I'll wait and see how it...

What exactly does $19.99 get you? The game maker didn't answer this in its press release, so we reached out to Valve's Doug Lombardi, who broke down the exact package included in that cost: two pre-made "base" decks of 54 cards each ("5 heroes, 9 items, and 40 other cards") and 10 sealed packs of cards, which each include 12 random cards, one of which is guaranteed to be "rare." Additional 12-card packs will be sold directly by Valve at $2 a pop at launch.
