Sentinels is a great card game. $1 to get it on steam and see if you like it is a steal. Keep in mind both the digital and physical versions have several expansions at this point

There's one DLC/expansion (Shattered Timelines) in the BTA tier (I ran out of space in the title so that's the "SotM DLC"). Any particular opinion about that one?

Omnitron-x in particular is an interesting hero, especially when he's supplemented by card draw. I don't remember how many of the alternate heroes are available in the digital version of the game (such as team leader tachyon), so he may take longer to set up than with a full game + alternates. That being said he's a complicated character who's fun to play once you figure out his deck and which cards should be set up first.

Chrono ranger doesn't really shine until you use his alternate (the one with more bounty play) and he needs a bit of draw or play power from another hero to really throw down a lot of damage. His bounties are particularly useful for team play mechanics - increasing damage output to bosses and select tanky villain/environment cards can be useful in a pinch.

Iron legacy is perhaps one of the toughest villain cards in the game. La capitan is tough, but much more manageable. Kismet is somewhere in the middle. The dreamer is one of the more unique villains in the game, where defeating the villain is not the objective. I won't spoil it, but it can be a difficult fight until you understand the mechanics and which decks to run against it.

Time cataclysm and the block are both interesting environments for different reasons, but I think most people don't pay much attention to the environment choice unless they are seasoned players.

Overall, shattered timelines is one of the better expansions. EDIT: Apparently it's the second highest rated of the major expansions on boardgamegeek, so it would appear I'm not alone in thinking it's good.

So I know these are tabletop but do any of these games shine with only two players?

I have Mysterium and my family has about half of the Ticket to Ride games in that pack (physical board games, not digital versions). I've played a lot of Ticket to Ride and I can say that it is pretty good with just two people, though it will depend a lot on what map/game your playing on. India and Switzerland are great for just a couple of players (Switzerland has a listed max of 3), USA(I've mostly played the "mega game" variant, not sure about others) is ok for 2 people and is pretty standard, Europe is my least favorite and I would Imagine its not very good for two people. I haven't played Asia, Nordic, Germany, or Pennsylvania (and wasn't even aware of most of them). Overall, Its a great series and I find that it is random enough to make sure each game isn't the exact same, but its not just up to chance who will win. I love how many points can swing on a small move/decision and that 1st and 2nd place are often close enough that it can decide the game.

Mysterium is a good game, but I don't think it would be good as a 2 player game. To be fair, I've never tried. The game revolves around one player communicating to the rest which cards in a set correspond to them using a set of illustrations. Its hard to describe, but I don't think it would be good for 2 people.

As for Sentinels, I played it once years ago. I don't think I hated it, but I have no idea how good it is overall, much less for 2 people.

I'm not sure how the multiplayer works though - certainly you could 2 player couch co-op the game and swap off during turns, but that may not be ideal for your situation.
