For those of us who have trouble keeping track of where specific developers work, does anybody know if any of the Fallout: New Vegas team is still at Obsidian? I'm trying to assess if any of that creative DNA is still in the company or if it's a whole new team operating under the same name.
I'm a huge fan of FNV but not really anything else Obsidian has done. Now that they're under Microsoft's umbrella I'm hesitant to trust it'll be anything like I want it to be.
Looks like Obsidian has a registered trademark for "The Outer Worlds" so it seems that may be the name of whatever they're teasing here.
Hard to say, F:NV was as good as it was because it was using a lot of the much-older Van Buren ideas and made in a format that was completely different than anything else Obsidian has done. Also,...

Something happened between Obsidian management and Chris Avellone that's made him publicly call for their firing multiple times since his departure. His absence has been fairly keenly felt in their most recent games too, there's a gulf in the writing quality between Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2.
I don't think Microsoft picking them up will affect quality but I hope they're not reaching beyond their grasp too quickly. I hope they don't wind up like Bioware, which went through a somewhat similar growth.
Yeah, BioWare was at the forefront of my mind when I was writing that. Westwood had a similar arc. Thanks for the details, I should check into what Chris Avellone is working on these days.

"Spacers" makes me think of Asimov's robot series. Is that a trope now?
Has been for a long, long time. For example, Mass Effect had an origin story with that title.
The old D6 Star Wars PnP game mentioned it as well.
