There's a rumor going around that MW2 & MW3 are being remastered for the next launch of the newest cod. This makes sense to give this game out for plus users to try and generate hype.

Modern Warfare was one of the good ones. I wasn't about to spend $50 on a remaster, but getting it for free is a good excuse to replay that campaign 10 years later.

I got a PS4 recently and been pondering whether to get PS+. I don't really play online much, not the kind of games I'd get on the PS4. So really, it would be about the free games. And they have an eerie talent for picking games that almost make it worth it for me.

I checked out the list of PS+ games given out in 2018 and it's a huge pile of meh. I have a list of games I want to get for the PS4 (including old and indie-ish ones) and not a single one of them showed up. They know exactly what people already bought and seem to give out the ones anyone who really wants already has, anyway. I already have The Witness on the PC, it's maybe my favorite game of all time. Also my backlog is only growing, so what do I get out of 20 new games on my account only 5 or so I'll get to play, anyway?

I know there's also discounts and whatnot but when buying on a sale, I think I can get the games I actually want for the same price or cheaper just purchased directly. The advantage being having exactly the games I want, which is worth it to me, even if it costs a little more. It's interesting how something that looks like such a great deal turns out to actually be quite a bit of a rip-off on close inspection. Not for everyone, but I'm sure they're not nearly losing as much money on the "free games" as it seems.

As someone who owns all the consoles and a decent gaming PC, I found no multiplayer games worthwhile on the service (particularly on PS4), since they are all available and better on PC. The last Sony exclusive multiplayer game I put more than 20 minutes into was the Twisted Metal reboot for PS3. At least on my Xbox One I like to fire up Halo for a few rounds every month or so.

The free games were nice, but I never really played them. I usually buy Sony's high quality exclusives soon after release since they are the only reason I own a PS4. Everything else that they hand out for free is stuff I'd rather play on PC (or the Switch for portability).

Yakuza and Persona series are pretty decent. I'd also recommend Detroit: Become Human.
