So this would be the first real hint at a confirmation of the recent rumors of a Pikatchu and Eevee themed Pokemon Switch game with Pokemon Go integration. People who supposedly leaked this also claimed the blurry screenshot, posted a while ago, is real.

That means potentially aggressive mobile integration and a blocky, tile-based 3DS style world and top-down perspective. I'll admit, this would mean a bit of a dip in my excitement over the Switch, a new Pokemon game would move as many units as Zelda and Mario combined and it doesn't look to go into a similar direction at all, in terms of innovation. I had hopes the Switch would inspire a new, gimmick-free and content/tech focused approach, even for games not developed in-house, but this and Labo look like Nintendo plans to go all-in with gimmicky stuff like mobile app integration while happily accepting a Pokemon game that's stuck in the 90s in terms of world design.

I don't think it means aggressive mobile integration. I think it means optional motion-based Pokeball throwing/capture techniques, and possibly seeing Pokemon in the overworld as opposed to random battles - which have fallen out of favor in JRPGs recently. As far as a tile-based world, every mainline Pokemon has had one, even with 360 degree movement technically available.

Pokemon is the biggest franchise of all time. It has made over ten billion dollars more than the next-largest franchise. There is little incentive to shake things up and turn it into something more innovative, and I don't think we're going to see anything more than just a jump in audio/visual quality.

Let's see. They're literally calling it "Let's GO!", though, which hints at them committing to the Pokemon GO link. I like seeing the pokemon in the overworld, though!

I think it has more to do with capitalizing on the popularity of it for marketing, but we can see. :)

Twitter and a bunch of other sites auto-inject stuff into your clipboard when you copy text from them ("http://" before each site in this case) so you have to manually remove it all when you paste them again. :/

Once @deimos adds title editing we can correct that kinda stuff manually though.

Ewww, I had no idea. Sorry, didn't want to edit the exact quote after copy-pasting and never checked for the text to be changed. Coincidentally, the reddit redesign reminds me so much of Twitter...

Because how else are they going to inject "SEE MORE AT: <the site you just copy/pasted from>.COM" on everything if they don't! You can't just expect to go stealing snippets of text from their site...

Because how else are they going to inject "SEE MORE AT: <the site you just copy/pasted from>.COM" on everything if they don't! You can't just expect to go stealing snippets of text from their site all willy nilly without them getting their ad money somehow, can you? How dare you!

Although in the case of twitter I think they're trying to be helpful... but just weren't thinking clearly since no browser since 2005 needs http:// for the URL to work properly.
