Working on that simulator brought me to create the Hearthsim community on irc, which then moved to discord and became a company. We wrote https://hsreplay.net when I really wanted hearthstone to have replays.

I've had a ton of fun doing all this. Now doing it for Warframe... I haven't really played Hearthstone in ages. I just get the card back every month.

Yup. HSReplay.net was fun! I wrote the initial replay spec and much of the tech behind the website (replay processing, reverse engineering, all the specs and python libraries etc). Proud to say it's all available on Github as well: https://github.com/HearthSim/HSReplay.net

I'm not involved much with HearthSim anymore. I've left the company to focus on my new one. But I'll definitely always treasure the memories.

The toughest part of it all was getting the company to profitability. We had hundreds of thousands of users from the beginning because of Hearthstone Deck Tracker, but none of them were paying users. When we started, we had to support replay processing for all those users, without a revenue source. We were definitely an unusual scenario when it comes to bootstrapped companies. But proud to say we succeeded!

We recently crossed 1 billion replays on HSReplay.net. Very, very proud of my work there :)

I used to play it quite a bit but stopped after missing to hit rank 20 one month and missing the card back. I completely stopped since then. Getting back now is not fun because if you want to play standard it's super expensive or grindy to get all the cards. and Even if I would spend dust to craft a deck, one year later half of the cards are out of rotation again

So you meant to say I'm right, not wrong? Or am I mistaking something. You're right about Arena though. Maybe I should try to get into it. But since I am not that good anymore it's unlikely I get...

I have played Hearthstone super casually since open beta. I play pretty much every day, but I don’t worry about climbing the ladder or anything. I usually just play a few ranked games a day to complete the daily, and I always make sure to get at least one win in tavern brawl per week to get the reward. I almost always end the season somewhere between rank 15-18. Hit me up if you would like to add me as a friend for questing purposes.

I play occasionally; usually only when friends are on though. I get frustrated easily in the main game and so don't like playing with random folks all too much. I stick to singleplayer mostly and will probably play the game again a lot when the RoS singleplayer finally hits — it really looks like there'll be a lot of good stuff there.
