As much as I am looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, it being my most eagerly anticipated game ever since it was first announced all those years ago (but esp. after the mind-blowing 45min demo), I would still much rather wait an extra six months for it to be released than have the employees working inhumane hours to get it done earlier.
Consider me skeptical about this pledge though, especially in light of the fact that, as the article points out, it may have been done to try and preemptively address a story about the crunch culture there... but at least making these statements publicly like this gives ammunition to the employees if managers don't follow through with the pledge.
I pretty much agree, especially since they have been working on it for so long, to the audience waiting an extra 6 months pretty much means nothing.
On a side note: I have to calm my expectations down a bit. A part of me really wants the world to be something like Blade Runner 2049, but a game version. I know it won't be. I think Dues Ex is the closest thing to that right now.
Honestly, "Cyberpunk RPG" is the only thing I needed to know before I decided to buy this, so I've been avoiding every bit of PR on this game since I have heard about it.
Wow that must take some will power lol. I was quite happy with what I saw, thats all I will tell you about the demo itself. But I will be trying out some mods e.g. some photorealism one, when they come out.
Big same, honestly.
Deus Ex: HR & MD were good, but I need something.. more. If CP2077 ends up sucking I'm going to be very torn up over it, but I caved and watched the release demo and I really liked what I saw so far. CDPR will be at E3 next month, and I'm waiting with bated breath that we'll get an anticipated release date then.
I agree. The Deus Ex games felt off to me. Perhaps they were just a bit too polished - they felt more like a regular action/stealth game that had the aesthetics of cyberpunk. I kind of want something that makes me feel like Shadowrun for the Genesis - a game that made you understand that cyberware was surgery. Honestly, I'm hoping that Cyberpunk 2077 has something like the Matrix, but please don't spoil it for me.
I would argue Blade Runner the game is probably closer to Blade Runner 2049 than anything. ;) It's a really sold point & click adventure game that you should check out if you like those kind of games. But yeah Deus Ex is definitely close as well. I replay the original every few years and it's one of my all-time favorite games, and the latest ones (not Invisible War) are really good too.
p.s. I have been trying desperately to temper my expectations regarding Cyberpunk 2077 as well, since I don't want to hype it up so much it can never hope to live up to them. But that's really hard to do with that insanely cool 45 min demo. ;) In truth, I would probably be happy with just a Witcher 3 futuristic reskin though, so I think I'll be alright.
Oooh Ill consider it. I don't know if that is what I am looking for. I kind of what a super immersive experience, like walking around and experiencing it. But I totally see the Blade Runner world in the game you showed.
The demo looked so good! Witcher huh, Ill be honest, I played a bit of the 3rd one, I was not feeling it. I don't know why.
Yeah Blade Runner 1997 is not openworld and is rather linear, so it probably won't scratch the exact itch you're feeling right now, but it's still a really good, classic Westwood p&c adventure game in that setting so you may get a kick out of it. I still have my original 4 CD copy of it. :)
I think the Witcher combat is meh... but the story, characters and voice acting kept me going. And what I liked most was that the sidequests are rarely every just boring, standard, openworld fetch quests either, they had depth and thought put into them. So that's more what I meant; the Witcher 3 world and quest style reskinned to Cyberpunk, not necessarily all the mechanics of the game.
I watched the god of war documentary and it was kind of sad to see what people in the studio had to go through in their personal life to make the game. Even though it was delayed by a few month, they worked their ass off for years.
As the industry advances, we get to have games that have an incredible amount of detail. In return, they take years to make and seem to require for developers to make tremendous sacrifices.
I wonder what the solution is ? Recruiting more people ? Taking more time before publishing them ?
