For those who haven't heard of it, check out Godot as well. It's a free, open source game engine with an unbelievably tiny footprint.

I made experiments with Godot and it was pretty cool. What it's lacking, in my opinion, are educational resources for total beginners. When I tried it at first it was hard to get my head around its object-oriented nature, since the documentation kinda glosses over these definitions. After one semester of Java at college, I understand it much better.

Do you have any recommended tutorials/resources for Godot? I plan on playing around with it this summer and would love a good entry point.

Neat. I had a blast with Gamemaker back in the day, and learned Labview, Mindstorms and Blocky for mentoring our FIRST robotics team, so I always appreciate more graphical programming options....

Text programming has always been like a second language to me compared to how blocks, wires and arrows are supposed to work, but short of working for NI, it's not really used for anything and anything that isn't specialty embedded hardware can be done better with Raspberry Pi and Python or Java or C or whatever the kids are using now. Which is probably for the best, but I'm still disappointed.

This looks really interesting. Thanks for the link! I'll have to give it an install later.

This looks more like a level editor such as Mario Maker. Which is not necessarily bad. What is bad is for a company like Google to not release a Linux version.
