So, I finished this game last night. This game is a quick play, only made longer because I was just using it as an absurdity sandbox. I sat down to show it to my husband last night, and in less than a minute I was in tears from laughing too hard. Few other games have been able to bring me such sheer joy.

For whatever reason I can't get it running on vanilla wine, nor on proton via command line (using a blank proton prefix). I used winetricks to install a bunch of .net stuff, d3dx10, dxvk, etc, but I couldn't figure out what it's missing. It just gives a unity crash window, and trying via proton just hangs.
What I ended up doing is pretty janky, but it works. Basically install any other unity game via steam play, then copy the UGG files into that folder and rename them to match the original game's exe.
I used cuphead, but any unity game, and perhaps any other game via proton / steam play might work.
Step 1: Install cuphead via steam.
Step 2: Copy the UGG files into the cuphead directory.
Open a terminal
Type cd ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Cuphead
Type rm * -rf to delete cuphead's files (edit if you're not sure what you're doing, before typing this command, ensure you're in the correct directory and you didn't get an error from the previous command. Type pwd and it should return something like /home/yourusername/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Cuphead. If not, stop immediately and ask for advice)
Type cp -R ~/Downloads/Untitled.Goose.Game/* . to copy the UGG files into the cuphead directory
Type mv Untitled.exe Cuphead.exe to rename the exe
Type mv Untitled_Data Cuphead_Data to rename the data folder
Step 3: Use steam to launch Cuphead. Untitled Goose Game plays flawlessly for me on integrated graphics

It’s extremely unique and very pleasant, although I can only play for about and hour at a time before getting kind of bored. But that’s sort of nice actually.

Shame it there is no linux version. If it was on steam I probably could have run it fine through proton.

You can run non-steam games through Proton.
Useful knowledge. Though in this case, Epic Game Store does not run on Linux.
It does, at least, it did, when subnautica was free to keep there
Is there a web ui I can download the games from epic through so I can run them in proton then?
