What are some co-op games with full-controller-support that run flawlessly on Linux?

Just looking for games to play with girlfriend. Cheap is better.

Both Risk of Rain games. The first one is on Linux natively, the second works flawlessly through proton. The first is a metroidvania style platformer/shooter focused on getting a good build for your character going with random loot drops, and finishing the game before you get outscaled by increasingly tough hordes of enemies. The second is an adaptation of the same basic concept to 3D. I think the first one supports local co-op on the same machine, but the second requires each player have their own computer, not sure if that's workable for you.

There's also stardew valley, which is a great indie game based on harvest moon, but I don't really know too much about how the co-op works, since I played the game before they added it.

Thanks! I should add that my girlfriend is not much of a gamer. Isn't Risk of Rain like a bit old-school/greyberd?

First one sure is. Second, a bit less, but it is pretty challenging and fast paced, so I dunno how well it'd go over. Stardew Valley should be perfect though, it's fun and casual. Minecraft would...

Minecraft would probably be good too, now that I think about it. There's also a free open source clone, minetest, that's probably worth looking into.

Borderlands 2 is also very good, and quite accomodating for casual players, but Linux support is a little dodgy right now: the Linux version is several patches behind, and consequently now lacks both the latest content and windows cross play. If that ever gets fixed, I'd definitely recommend it.

https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_local_multiplayer_games Could of sworn there were better tools for these sort of things, but you can sort by OS and Controller support.

The green controller icon on the table is controller support. Full green icon is full support, Partial icon is partial, !? is unknown, Red X is a hard no.
