Why bother going off sale? They were on sale in November, December and now January...

As far as Steam sales specifically, I think after this Lunar New Year Sale the next one won't be until summer (for the Western Hemisphere). According to https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-sale-dates/ there may or may not be a spring sale during early May, but there was not one in 2019.

So Lunar New Year, possibly spring, summer, Halloween (mostly scary games I think), fall, and winter sales are the main ones.

I'm just guessing but I imagine the sales clustered around October through January are for getting people to buy games as gifts for Christmas/holidays and then for those people who get Steam gift cards/money for their gifts to then buy games after those holidays. Summer might be right around the time when students are off of school with more time to play video games.
