I got myself a copy of it, and it's pretty good, actually. When people can build on top of this to do things like have easily rebound controls and some basic graphics settings (like resolution), it really will feel like a completed project.

People are already noticing that all the speedrun tricks you'd expect to work still do, and some advanced regular gameplay maneuvers might be easier to pull off than before, and the LOD is so much improved that Mario does not switch to a low-poly model when the camera zooms out anymore.

It's super weird to play Super Mario 64 in native widescreen. More so weird given that it's not actually a remake, and from what I can tell works flawlessly.

It's amazing what you can do when working with the source code of a game rather than running retail code in a hacked together emulator of some janky early 3D hardware.

Now we have a functioning PC version seemingly out of nowhere, posted by a user called "Unreal". The video has been removed today, but here is the link to it.

I predict that whoever released this is going to feel the full brunt of Nintendo's lawyers.

I would also predict that Ocarina of Time will be playable on PC just as easy as "mario.exe" is now.

Yeah, if the person running the YouTube account that published the now removed video is in any way involved with creating the port, I suspect they are in for a world of hurt... especially since they have links to all their other social media accounts, even Patreon, on there. Even if the YouTuber isn't actually behind the port, I imagine they are still gonna be in for a really bad time soon, given Nintendo's incredibly litigious nature when it comes to protecting their IP.

Is warosu just another 4chan? I’ve never seen that site before.

It's an archive for some of the 4chan boards.
