As a bit of an aside, Microsoft needs to turn their Flight Simulator into a game platform. I'd love to see an adventure game set on Earth. Or a Minecraft-like creative game where you can shape the actual world into what you want. Imagine both how powerful and small that would make you feel. You can make anything happen in a perfect virtual recreation of the world. But the things you think about most days, like upgrading the downtown area up the road, could quickly deflate your enthusiasm seeing how minuscule it is in comparison to the globe.

I don't know if these kinds of games would be good or bad for humanity, but they would absolutely be massively influential.

And I also like the idea of a game set on Earth, period. Not in New York, or Toronto, or Berlin, or Shenzhen: the world. Clearly streaming the assets is a possibility now.

And when that's been explored... Imagine RimWorld but on an actual simulated world. Collate space agencies' data, augment with Earth's findings, add just a tiny bit of randomness, and you have yourself a No Man's Sky even its creators couldn't have dreamt of.

Now there's a thought. A racing game where you can race any street on Earth. The world's most realistic city builder. The ultimate transport business managing game. A battle royale FPS set in your own home town. A WW3 war game where you can fight in every corner of the world. GTA clones for every major city.

Much as I enjoy all of these... Imagine beta-testing obstacle-climbing systems in these kinds of environments. Or, collision, for that matter.
